“2021 NFL Draft will be a heavy Defensive Draft for us”: Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott reveals his Draft Preference, talks about Cowboys Offensive Weapons

Is Dak Prescott Playing This Week Against The Eagles? Cowboys QB's Injury Report

Dak Prescott looked to have been running one of the NFL’s elite offenses last season until his injury in Week 5 against the Giants. But a loaded offence was not enough to carry a dismal Cowboys offence. Thus, despite the rumors of trading up to draft TE Kyle Pitts, Dak believes that his team will be going the defensive route in the upcoming NFL draft.

The Cowboys’ defence was horrid last year. They allowed an average of 386.4 yards of total offense per game last season, which ranked No. 23 in the NFL and had the second-worst run defense in the league with an average of 158.8 rushing yards allowed per game. Thus, the team has multiple holes to fill heading into the draft tomorrow.

However, The Dallas Cowboys look set on the offensive side on the ball. With star QB Dak Prescott returning to near 100% health, and the Cowboys finally committing to him as their QB of the future, we could see the cowboys explode on offence once again. Thus, Prescott thinks it’s certain the team will go with adding defensive talent in the draft.

Dak Prescott thinks it’s that his front office will go defence in the draft.

“We’ve got some great leaders,” said Prescott. “I’m trusting the front office and the people who do their job, they know what they’re talking about. I think it will be a heavy defensive draft for us. I think it’s obvious you go defense and make our team better on that side.”

“I think it’ll be a heavy defensive draft for us,” Prescott said in an appearance on the Tiki and Tierney podcast. “You just look on the offensive side at the weapons we’ve got, and I think that’s why I say go defense.”

“We’ve got Amari Cooper, we’ve got Blake Jarwin coming back from an injury, we’ve got CeeDee (Lamb) coming into his second year, Michael Gallup, who I think is going to have the biggest year of his career yet, and obviously Zeke (Elliott) is in the backfield. I just think it’s obvious you go defense, and just make our team better over on that side.”

Dallas Cowboys Draft needs

The Cowboys have the 10th pick in the draft. And with all the 9 teams before them predicted to pick an offensive player, the Cowboys could get the option of drafting the best defensive player in the draft.

Looking over the roster, Dallas has needs at cornerback and on the defensive line. Thus the team could look at Alabama corner Patrick Surtain II and or CB Jaycee Horn out of South Carolina. Patrick Surtain was a pain for offences throughout Alabama’s National Championship run, and Horn kept top receivers on lock this past season.

The Cowboys have 10 picks heading into the 2021 draft. Thus we could see movement on the draft boards by the 5 time Super Bowl winners. With the rumours surrounding TE Kyle Pitts but the glaring defensive needs of the team, it will be very interesting to see what the Cowboys do.
