A Year Before Signing $141,250,000 Raiders Deal, Davante Adams Was Offered a Brand New Car by Derek Carr to Lure Him to Land in Sin City

Superstar wide receiver Davante Adams, who had signed a whopping 5-year $141,250,000 deal with the Las Vegas Raiders back in 2022, was actually offered a car by former Raiders quarterback Derek Carr in 2021, with the intention of luring him into shifting bases to Sin City.

Derek, who moved to the Saints before the start of the 2023/24 season, wanted to play alongside his close friend, Davante. Thus, he had generously offered to gift his pal a car two years ago to fast-track the move. The two stars had shared the locker room before as well, which is why, Derek was eager to get Davante into his unit.

Derek Carr Offered to Buy Davante Adams a Brand-New Car to Bring Him to Raiders

Before Davante Adams eventually made the move to the Raiders in 2022, Derek Carr had already wished for it to happen in 2021. The 32-year-old even offered to buy Adams a brand-new car while making an appearance on the Chris Collinsworth podcast. Carr proclaimed Adams as one of his best friends, and that he was willing to offer him anything to bring him to Sin City.

He heaped praise on Adams, hyping him as the best receiver in the NFL back then. He even foresaw the fact that Adams would fit in perfectly with the other receivers at the franchise. “Davante, he’s one of my best friends. I’m gonna offer him whatever I gotta offer. I’ll buy him a car, whatever I’ve got to do I’ll offer that man,” Carr had said.

“I know he would fit in great with the receivers we have here. He would fit so well in that room. I’m allowed to say those things. Our organization isn’t, but I’m going to say it. He’s my best friend, I think he’s one of the best—he’s the best receiver in the NFL,” Carr had claimed about Adams back in 2021, as reported by Bleacher Report.

Carr, and the then Green Bay Packers wide receiver Adams’ roots tread way back to their college football days. The quarterback-receiver duo played together at Fresno State and had their breakout season in 2013. Their sensational performances led to both of them getting drafted in the NFL 2014 draft. During the 2013 season, Adams recorded 131 receptions for 1,719 yards and 24 touchdowns while Carr himself completed 68.9 percent of his passes for 5,083 yards, 50 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Davante Adams Teamed Up With Derek Carr For Only a Season at the Raiders

Derek Carr’s wish finally came true during the 2022 offseason, when the Raiders got Davante Adams from the Green Bay Packers. The 30-year-old WR then signed a five-year contract worth a whopping $141.25 million. Derek Carr’s presence played a huge role in landing Davante in Vegas.

The dynamic duo however, was once again separated after only a season together in Las Vegas, with Derek Carr leaving for the New Orleans Saints during the 2023/24 offseason. While the veteran duo might not have played together for long at the highest level, if they once again get a chance to play for one unit, they will probably grab that opportunity with both hands as they do share a phenomenal bond.
