Aaron Rodgers

Probably the only person unfazed by Aaron Rodgers’ career low performance in 2022 is, well, Aaron Rodgers himself. Even with the dismal season, and the heartbreaking loss in week 18 that cost them a playoff spot, he still seems to be in good spirits. This also seeps into his ideas of playing in the NFL for next year, as he still feels he’s ready to give some of the best in the league a run for their money.

During his usual weekly appearance on the ‘Pat McAfee Show’, A.J. Hawk asks Rodgers if he still thinks he can play in the NFL. He says, “Do I still think I can play? Of course. Of course. Can I play at a high level? Yeah. The highest. I think I can win MVP again in the right situation. Right situation, is that Green Bay or is that somewhere else? I’m not sure, but I don’t think you should shut down any opportunity.”

Rodgers adds that he is not ready to say never and rule out any situation, because of what happened to him 2005. Rodgers, who believed he’d never play for the Green Bay Packers, ended up spending 18 years of his life with them. “When you say never, things happen that you say never to… So, be careful saying never,” he says.

Aaron Rodgers thinks he will not be part of a Packers team rebuilding

While Rodgers feels strongly about his ability to perform in the NFL, he is still unsure of his place in the Packers’ offense. The Green Bay outfit has been engaging in talks with the future Hall of Famer, but as of now, no news of it being fruitful have emerged. The Packers will probably be making one of the most important decisions ever. If they go wrong with this, they’ll definitely struggle for the foreseeable future.

If Rodgers’ declines this season is a sign of his age affecting his play, then the Packers would surely want to go with the younger backup, Jordan Love. However, if it is only a temporary thing that can be averted by making a few other changes, then the Packers would no doubt benefit from the wealth of knowledge and football skill that Rodgers brings to the table. Identifying this, however, will be a difficult task.

The Packers certainly do not lack good players. In fact, at the start of the season, they were one of the best teams on paper. However, a plethora of problems have plagued them, especially the lack of a formidable receiver corps. The loss of Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders still seems to be haunting the Packers’ offense.

Those are problems that can be fixed. If the Packers wish to retain Rodgers, they’d have to make the necessary changes for him to help the Packers win again. Will we see Rodgers start his 19th season wearing Green? Or has fate chosen another color for Rodgers to wear?
