Deion Sanders Playfully Reveals the “Three Things Black Folks Don’t Do”

Deion Sanders is one of the most recognizable names in the football community. The former NFL and MLB player etched his name in history with some incredible performances on the gridiron and on the diamond. However, his life has not been free of problems. His long sporting career has ultimately caught up to him, as he now suffers severe leg injuries that constantly nag him day and night.

Last season, while coaching the JSU Tigers, Sanders was hospitalized for a month, during the SAC Championship season. Apparently, Sanders had dislocated his leg and had an inflamed nerve. Sanders did return to active coaching as the month ended. Though, he had to use golf carts, push scooters, and crutches to get around.

Deion Sanders posts a video detailing the conversation with his surgeons

Talking about your injuries with your doctor is always a terrifying prospect. However, Sanders did just that and even recorded it. In a video posted to his Instagram, Sanders is seen talking about his discomfort to his surgeons. It seems since the last time he had his foot checked, the situation had become worse at the time of filming this video. Though, when precisely this conversation happened, is still unknown.

The surgeons seem to be suggesting amputation as a means of stemming the damage his leg has already suffered. They seem to be assuming that Sanders’ rather busy lifestyle, coupled with prolonged hours on his feet, is not helping the issue at all. To which, Sanders opines that any solution must happen over the summer, though he might be even busier if they win the championship.

Coach Prime uses this video as an example to make his young followers understand a valuable lesson. That they should not lose faith in themselves even in the face of harsh adversities. Sanders writes in his post, “…Just keep the faith and know that if He brought you to it, He will bring you through it. I’m Coach Prime and I’m built for this.”

Sanders had talked about his injuries earlier. Earlier this year, he appeared on Shannon Sharpe‘s ‘Club Shay Shay’, where the duo talked about Sanders’ health, and his leg specifically. Sanders revealed that he has to undergo foot massages almost 2-3 times a day to keep the blood flowing. Apart from that, he also takes around 30 pills just to make it through the day.

Sanders is now focused on getting the Colorado Buffaloes to the top

Deion Sanders, amidst heavy criticism, recently took up the role of head coach with the Colorado Buffaloes. It seems not everyone is happy about Sanders joining the Buffaloes, calling him a “sellout” for accepting the $29.5 million offer. Others are cross because he chose to leave an HBCU, abandoning the project of revitalizing football in these schools.

Coach Prime has been defending his move constantly. According to him, it was difficult to build a powerhouse in the NCAA with the JSU Tigers. His move, he says, was purely to make sure he was able to achieve this goal. The Buffaloes are a rather weak team, but Sanders should have no problem getting them up to shape. Will the Buffaloes become champions this season?
