Patrick Mahomes is a known foodie but more commonly, he is known to be obsessed with the fast-food franchise, Whataburger. Mahomes’ obsession with the $4,500,000,000 worth franchise grew to the point that he even opened multiple outlets of the food joint all around Kansas City. But the question still remains, where does his obsession come from?

Hailing from Texas, Patrick Mahomes has always had a special place in his heart for that Mexican flavor. And what better place to find Tex-Mex fast food than Whataburger? In a 2021 interview, Mahomes revealed how his love story with Whataburger began. He had a sense of Texas pride in him while he was recalling the old times when he used to babysit his brother.

Why Is Patrick Mahomes Obsessed With Whataburger?

Patrick Mahomes recently opened yet another joint of Whataburger in KC. He plans to open around 30+ outlets to give his new hometown a taste of Texas. But when asked how his love started, Mahomes took it back to the time when he was still a kid and his mother used to go out to work.

“Obviously, being from Texas, you have a lot of Texas pride. And Whataburger is kind of at the forefront of that,” Mahomes said referring to one of The Onion‘s parodies. “I’ve always ate Whataburger since I was a little kid. And then when I got older, I’d babysit my brother, and there was a Whataburger literally down the street. And we would always grab that and kind of have that while my mom was working.”

Additionally, it is no secret that Patrick Mahomes is a geek when it comes to Ketchup. However, it is a lesser-known fact that his favorite ketchup is the one just made by Whataburger.

What Is Patrick Mahomes’ Favorite Whataburger Meal?

Patrick Mahomes opened his first Whataburger location in November 2021. The craze for the Tex-Mex flavor was so high that the line in front of the food joint grew longer and longer to the point that even local authorities had to step in later to announce a traffic plan. In a chat with Mahomes at that moment which according to him was a milestone achievement for him, the Chiefs star talked about his favorite Whataburger meal.

Being one of the oldest aficionados of the franchise Mahomes likes to order the classic No. 1 with just the cheese, ketchup, and pickles paired with large fries and large Coke. However, to get that taste of Texas the NFL beast sometimes orders “Texas toast, a barbecue chicken strip sandwich.”
