Stephen A Smith

On Tuesday morning, Stephen A. Smith didn’t arrive on time at the “First Take” set. The ESPN personality was nowhere to be seen when co-host Molly Qerim started the show.

However, she was able to spot Stephen quickly and what happened after that really made the day of fans. Molly showed a video of Smith running along the pier to enter the building while security was holding his bag.

Smith brought up the crew “spying on me” with an overhead camera while blaming the “ridiculous” traffic for holding him up. Smith declared, “I’m done with New York.”

Under the terms of his current contract with ESPN, Smith makes about $8 million a year. Additionally, he is under a “$4 million per year production” contract. Smith has been working in the field for a while and appears to have more than just “First Take” on his plate at ESPN. He is one of the highest paid sports broadcasters in the business.

Stephen A Smith Recently Apologized For a Controversial Segment On Lamar Jackson

Not long ago, Stephen was criticized heavily on Twitter over his take on a controversial Tweet. He issued an apology Monday morning following a First Take segment about Lamar Jackson’s deleted Tweet.

On Sunday night, Jackson responded with an inappropriate Tweet to a fan who suggested the Baltimore Ravens should let their quarterback walk in free agency rather than pay the $250 million guaranteed he’s reportedly seeking.

First Take devoted a segment Monday morning to Jackson’s Sunday performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars and his deleted tweet, which some interpreted as containing an anti-gay phrase. Smith used the term “homos*xual” during a brief discussion of whether the tweet was discriminatory toward the gay community, for which he later apologized.

About an hour and a half after making his initial remarks about Jackson’s tweet, Smith apologized. After realizing he ought to have said “gay,” he continued, “I appreciate the education.”
