Lamar Jackson

Lamar Jackson has been wearing number 8 ever since his time at Louisville. And now 3 years into his NFL career, the #8 has become synonymous with the Baltimore Ravens’ star. Now, after the new NFL jersey number rule change, multiple teammates inquired about the number. But Lamar had a simple blunt message for them.

The NFL passed the proposal to allow a more expanded availability of jersey numbers for every position. For example, originally, running backs and defensive backs were not allowed to wear single numbers. But with that now changed, we could see a number of players switch to the college numbers that they wore ever since their childhood.

Lamar Jackson got into a funny Twitter exchange with Marlon Humphry and Patrick Queen

Lamar Jackson won a Heisman trophy during his college career at Louisville. And then 3 years later, he won the NFL MVP with the Baltimore Ravens. All throughout strutting around with the number 8. Therefore it’s no surprise that he is attached to it.

So when Patrick Queen came calling, Lamar and Marlon Humphries got into a funny exchange.

The expanded jerseys will allow running backs, tight ends, fullbacks, H-backs, and wide receivers to wear numbers 1-49 and 80-89. Defensive backs can choose from 1-49. Linebackers 1-59 and 90-99. Offensive linemen 50-79 and defensive linemen 50-79 and 90-99. QBs, kickers, and punters will remain in 1-19.

Lamar will almost certainly still be wearing the number 8 next season. With the Browns getting stronger and the Steelers looking as strong as always, Lamar and the Ravens will be in for a tough competition in the AFC North next season. The AFC North will definitely be one of the best divisions to look out for in 2021.
