Jackson Mahomes is perhaps not the most liked personality in the NFL community. The younger brother to the Kansas City Chiefs’ maestro Patrick Mahomes, sometimes that relationship is the only saving grace for him.

While his brother accrues accolades for his spectacular performances, Jackson Mahomes has an affinity for getting entangled in controversies. What’s more, after a year of absence, he’s back again.
Jackson Mahomes made his latest appearance during the Chiefs’ game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Before the divisional playoff game started, Mahomes was seen recording TikToks, marking his return after a long hiatus. There even is a clip of him from before that has him attempting to flirt with fellow TikTok star and Instagram model Alix Earle.
Jackson Mahomes has a huge following on social media. Though most of the NFL community thinks he’s just a spoiled brat. Although his recent absence is unknown, some think it was just Patrick Mahomes intervening. Perhaps to keep him out of more trouble. There are still more who think Jackson Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes, Patrick Mahomes’ wife, should both be banned from NFL games.
The collective hatred for Jackson Mahomes is not very difficult to comprehend. In fact, one look at his list of antics, and it’ll be difficult to like him at all. Unless you’re his family, then you kind of have no choice. Nevertheless, his actions have made him public enemy number one for fans of Kansas City and other franchises. Well, sort of.
Jackson Mahomes and his history of monumentally screwing things up
One incident that affected his reputation, was when he poured water over a couple of Seattle Seahawks fans. In his defense, they were trolling him for the Chiefs’ 1-point loss to the Seahawks. However, his response was just out of the ordinary. He even defended his actions on social media, saying those fans were “thirsty”.

Another one of his controversies includes when he recorded a TikTok in probably the most inappropriate places ever. Before a game between the Chiefs and the Washington Commanders, the Commanders held a ceremony to retire the no. 21 in honor of former safety Sean Taylor. Taylor had only recently lost his life during a burglary attempt. Mahomes, however, did not seem to care, dancing for a TikTok on the #21.

He did apologize later, saying it was an accident. However, judging by his carefree and reckless attitude, fans did not buy the excuse. One would think the string of backlashes would tempt him to change his ways. Alas, it was not to be. Earlier this year, he tried bashing a local Kansas City bar on social media, after the place proved too small for his large entourage.
In a hilarious twist of events, the bar went full roast mode on Jackson Mahomes. In a post, they said, “We are sorry that we set boundaries that you tried to ignore. Often times people with unearned status and a sense of entitlement think they are above the rules and will lash out at the employee enforcing them.”
“We are sorry that you have the reach that you do, or at least that you think you do… We survived a global pandemic, we’ll survive your ego,” they added.
They saved the best for last, saying, “We are sorry you didn’t reach out to us first before taking to social media. But then again that is an expectation we would have from a mature and rational person. Not someone who pours water on fans and dances on the memorials of tragically lost people for TikTok clout.”
Safe to say, if he continues this trend, his older brother might just have to step in and stop him for good. However, that solution seems like it could take a while to happen.
