The New England Patriots are used to winning, and so far, they’re definitely winning free agency even though it hasn’t officially started yet.

After suffering their first losing season since 2000, Bill Belichick and the Patriots have gotten a head start on setting things straight in 2021. They made move after move in the last few days, with the most recent being the signing of Hunter Henry from the Chargers.

Here is the complete list of signings/acquisitions made so far.

  • Acquire Trent Brown, OT
  • Cam Newton, QB (Re-signing)
  • Matthew Judon, LB
  • Hunter Henry, TE
  • Jonnu Smith, TE
  • Nelson Agholor, WR
  • Kendrick Bourne, WR
  • Davon Godchaux, DT
  • Jalen Mills, S
  • Henry Anderson, DT
  • Deatrich Wise, DE (Re-signing)
  • Donta Hightower/Patrick Chung returning, LB/S
  • Carl Davis, DT
  • Justin Bethel, CB (Re-signing)

Looks like a list of deals made over an entire offseason right? It really is clear to see why people around the league have been in shock today.

Whether this instantly makes the Pats a contender or it’s just lipstick on a pig, only time will tell. However, some of the moves should clearly be beneficial for the team.

Namely, adding Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry really brings some firepower back to the TE position, which has been lacking since the departure of Rob Gronkowski.
