Brock Purdy

After beating Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady in the Niners’ lopsided 35-7 victory at Levi’s Stadium on Sunday, there were many reasons to celebrate for Brock Purdy, the rookie quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers.

According to head coach Kyle Shanahan, who spoke to reporters shortly after the game, Purdy suffered an oblique strain that wasn’t directly related to the quarterback being removed after San Francisco ensured the Buccaneers wouldn’t mount a comeback.

There’s also a chance that Purdy will have to wait a little longer before making his second NFL start. Josh Johnson, the 49ers’ backup quarterback who had been signed earlier in the week, had been the team’s closer but may now have to start for the Niners in Week 15’s Thursday Night Football game against their NFC West rivals, the 7-6 Seattle Seahawks.

Brock Purdy’s Injury Report

Due to an oblique/rib injury, Brock Purdy was restricted. His condition is unknown for Thursday night. The rookie quarterback, on the other hand, sounds as though he anticipates being prepared.

Before practice, Purdy told reporters, “I feel good. I’m just taking it day by day and getting the best care I can, but overall I feel good.”

Kyle Shanahan stated it’s unclear whether he will play against the Seahawks on Thursday. Moreover, Purdy hasn’t tried to throw since Sunday due to the oblique injury.

Despite the injury, Brock Purdy was ecstatic to simply win his start for the Niners last week. But as long as he remains healthy, San Francisco needs him to keep giving his best. However, Johnson will start if Purdy is unavailable during the short week.

Purdy, who was making just his fifth appearance of his young career, played the majority of the Niners’ 35-7 rout of the Buccaneers on Sunday. Kyle Shanahan, the head coach of San Francisco, said on Monday that he thought the quarterback was hurt during the team’s second drive of the game.
