Zinta is fond of cricket and is actively seen in the Kings XI Punjab camp in the IPL, after she became the co-owner of the franchise back in 2008, when she was the only woman-owner in the lucrative league.

Preity Zinta is also the only woman owner in the inaugural edition of the T20GL, as she wants to transform the franchise into a winning squad.

Zinta thanked Haroon Lorgat in a press release and admired his passion and belief to inaugurate the T20 Global League, which also persuaded her to own a franchise.

She revealed that she believed that the League will be an exciting time for the young talented cricketers in South Africa, as it will be presented as an opportunity to play and shine against few of the best cricketers going around in the world.

The 42-year-old Zinta also claimed that she was happy for the inhabitants of the Cape Winelands area in South Africa, as she hopes that there will be a lot of entertainment which will provide for a special fan experience.

South African skipper Faf du Plessis will be the marquee player for Zinta’s new franchise, and he has also expressed his excitement to work with the actress.

Preity Zinta will become the third person to own a franchise in both the IPL and the T20 Global League, as Bollywood King Shah Rukh Khan owns the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Cape Town Knight Riders, while the GMR Group from India owns the Delhi Daredevils and Jo’Burg Giants franchise.

The inaugural edition of the T20 Global League kicks off from 4th November, with Stellenbosch Monarchs playing their opening game at home in Boland Park against the Jo’Burg Giants.
