Premier League Big 6 Summer signings rated

Tottenham

Tanguy Ndombele

Tottenham’s record signing has had a mixed season so far. He made a glorious debut providing an assist with his first touch after coming in as a substitute against Juventus in the pre-season. He also scored a goal on his Premier league debut against Aston Villa.

However, the rest of his season at North London has been plagued with injuries. The midfielder has on very few occasions played out the entire 90 minutes and has even failed to make the squad several times. When fit, Ndombele is often their most consistent player. However, his failure to remain so for long durations has cost him and his side heavily this season.

Giovani Lo Celso

Tottenham bought in Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis in the summer on a loan with an option to buy. The 23-year-old has been phenomenal for the club so far in the few chances he has received. His goal involvement may be less than desirable but his work rate is second to none in the league.

He can help guide the ball forward while also offering much more in defence than the players Totteham currently have in advance positions. It seems but a formality that he will officially become a Tottenham player by next summer much to the delight of the fans.

Ryan Sessegnon

Ryan Sessegnon joined Spurs for a reported fee of £25 million. Sessegnon has only played a handful of times for Tottenham this season and despite the obvious quality on display, this hasn’t necessarily translated into performances.

Sessegnon has been employed as a left-back and a left wing. However, it is the more defensive option that he looks comfortable in. It is still early days and Tottenham would do well to be patient with him. However, as of now, he hasn’t added much value to the squad.

Rating: 5/10

Jack Clarke

The 19-year old is another who Tottenham have purchased with an eye to the future from Leeds United for a fee believed to be in the region of £10 million, with further add ons. As part of the deal, Clarke was immediately sent back to Leeds United on loan. However, the lack of playing time given to him has seen Tottenham call the teenager back and sent to Queen Parks Rangers now.

As of now, Clarke is yet to make an appearance for Tottenham. However, the youngster is said to be a versatile forward who can play on either side of the wings and even play in the centre if required and could prove to be an asset to the club in the future.

Kion Etete

Following a successful trial with Tottenham, the 18-year old joined the club in the summer from Notts County for £200,000. The tall striker is said to be one for the future and could become a Tottenham regular sometime in the future. However, at the moment, he is yet to represent the senior side although he regularly plays in the youth team.

Chelsea

Christian Pulisic

Technically, Pulisic became a Chelsea player by January last year. However, he only joined the club in the summer, making this his first season in the Premier league. The American winger found it hard to find a place in the Chelsea squad in the beginning. However, a perfect hat-trick against Burnley helped him get more chances in the playing 11 before he sealed his place in the starting lineup.

In 12 starts for Chelsea, Pulisic has recorded 5 goals and 2 assists in the Premier League for the Blues and has become an integral component of Frank Lampard’s side. So much so, that the club have struggled in the league since his absence through injury in the last month or so.

Rating: 6/10

Mateo Kovacic

Despite a transfer embargo, Chelsea managed to bring in Kovacic after triggering the buy option on his loan deal from Real Madrid. He has easily been one of Chelsea’s best player this season and has won the Chelsea fans over with his vision, range, and abilities.

Kovacic has played 15 games for Chelsea this season and has made 9 starts so far. He has a passing accuracy of 90% and has contributed to 3 assists and a goal in the premier league. He has also played all but one game for Chelsea in the Champions league so far.
