Sachin Tendulkar congratulates MS Dhoni on completing 400 ODI dismissals
In one swift motion, MS Dhoni collected the ball and dislodged Markram’s bails to give complete his 400th ODI dismissal.
It is an enormous landmark, as Dhoni now finds himself along side Sangakara, Gilchrist and Boucher as the most successful wicket-keepers in the history of ODI cricket.
For someone who was acknowledged as a competent, but not good keeper in his earlier days, MS Dhoni has defied expectations to become India’s greatest custodian behind the stumps.
Although his efficiency as a limited overs batsman has a lot of question marks over it, Dhoni’s hands show no sign of wear and tear behind the stumps.
Kuldeep Yadav, who has been in terrific form in South Africa, got the South African captain off just his second delivery, as Markram was comprehensively beaten in the air and off the pitch.
Dhoni then took care of the rest, as he quickly whipped the bails off and sent Markram on his way. Yadav was quite happy and congratulated Mahi on his historic dismissal.
Former cricketers took to Twitter to congratulate Dhoni on his momentous achievement.
Sachin Tendulkar sent a tweet in which he congratulated the Indian team for their fabulous victory in Cape Town. He also put in a special mention for Dhoni, and congratulated him for his 400th ODI scalp.
Fantastic work by the spin twins @imkuldeep18 and @yuzi_chahal to wrap up the win. Special mention to @msdhoni on getting 400 dismissals in ODI cricket. Congrats on going 3-0 up. #INDvsSA
