Tendulkar discloses MS Dhoni-related key moment

Tendulkar discloses MS Dhoni-related key moment: Master Blaster was vocal about what changed the nerve-wrenching IPL 2019 final.

Mumbai Indians defeating Chennai Super Kings by 1 run in IPL 2019 final saw them becoming the first-ever Indian Premier League to register four IPL titles. In what was a cliffhanger of a match, it culminated on the back of bountiful twists and turns.

Speaking after the victory with Sanjay Manjrekar, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar opened up on the game-changing moment of the match. “The key moment was [MS] Dhoni’s run-out,” Tendulkar was quoted as saying. Chennai captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni getting run-out in a debatable manner in the 13th over had undoubtedly brought back MI into the match.

Other than Dhoni’s run-out, Tendulkar also hailed fast bowler-duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga. “But also in patches when Bumrah bowled those critical to even out Malinga’s one poor over was also crucial. And the last over, thought Malinga finished the game out beautifully,” Tendulkar said.

It was Bumrah who registered bowling figures of 4-0-14-2 while defending 150 runs.

Tendulkar also recollected Indians’ title victory from IPL 2017 where they had won by 1 run. “And as for the final, we knew we defended 129 in the final two years ago, so we were confident. I think we have a terrific team – with experience and youth,” Tendulkar added.

Tendulkar praises Rahul Chahar and Hardik Pandya

The legendary cricketer was also vocal about the young sensation in Rahul Chahar (4-0-14-1) and all-rounder Hardik Pandya. “As Mahela [Jayawardena] said, Rahul Chahar stands out the way he’s bowled this season. Just fabulous. And don’t forget Hardik [Pandya]. We were in the corner in many games this season, and Hardik bailed us out many times,” Tendulkar concluded.
