Sebastian Vettel furious after missing out on pole at Chinese GP

Sebastian Vettel furious after missing out on pole at Chinese GP as he feels the team knew what went wrong.

Sebastian Vettel vented out his anger on the team radio after a sorry qualification for Ferrari, one in which the 4 time world champion had to settle for P3, when clearly he and Ferrari felt like they could have done better.

With that clear advantage on straights, Ferrari were expected to sweep the grid off its feet in China, but a poor middle sector meant that they were always in touch and go distance with Mercedes.

Ultimately, it was Valtteri Bottas who clinched pole in the 1000th F1 race, with Lewis Hamilton slotting in at P2. While Vettel seemed calm and collected in the post quali interview, the radio interaction with his team post qualification seemed a little agitated.

“WE HAD IT GUYS. WE HAD IT. You know why.” Vettel blurted out on the radio.

While there is no clear idea as to why Vettel was so furious on the radio, twitter seems to think that because of a bad out lap, Vettel wasn’t quite able to put the car to its limit in that final surge for pole position.

Clearly, he felt that there was more performance in the car, something that the team failed to extract and something that might hurt them big time on raceday tomorrow.

Ferrari had been criticised heavily last season for being shabby in their qualification work, especially from the pitwall, where their strategies to send in their drivers was questioned multiple times.

Not much seems to have changed this season too and Vettel and Ferrari would be hoping that they can sort things out for raceday, as another Mercedes could mean a massive advantage for their team with 3 races in.
