Shane Warne criticizes Victoria

Shane Warne criticizes Victoria: Legendary Australian spinner wants Aaron Finch to open the innings for Victoria in Sheffield Shield.

Victoria’s notion of batting experienced Aaron Finch in the middle-order in the next round of Sheffield Shield seems to not go well with legendary Australian spinner in Shane Warne, who has criticized the state team for opting for ‘disgrace’.

Finch, who made his Test debut for Australia during the recently concluded Test series against Pakistan at UAE, is all in likeliness of opening the batting for Australia in their first Test against India on December 6 at Adelaide.

Also Australia’s captain in limited-over formats, Finch has been struggling for runs of late. In such a scenario, one expects him to open the innings in domestic circuit to get accustomed to the position but that seems not be the case for Victoria are adamant to open with regular openers in Marcus Harris and Travis Dean.

It is worth mentioning that Finch has been playing in the middle-order in the First-class format for quite sometime now. It was only in UAE that he was sent in as the opener. With Victoria having a set combination, it would be hard on their part to make such a decision for they would also be looking to win a match of Sheffield Shield with their best combination.

That being said, Warne wasn’t impressed with all of this. “Can we please have common sense back into cricket in this country !,” read the conclusion of the first of Warne two tweets.

It was followed by another tweet which emphasized on Victoria should do what is best for Australia. “Have we forgotten what shield cricket is for in this country ? To produce test players. Shield cricket should also be the place to learn how to play the game the right way-so when you’re picked for Aust you’re ready. Vics have it wrong and should do what’s best for Aust – end of,” Warne said in his tweet.
