At $21,336,567, Carlos Alcaraz Set to Surpass His Veteran Shanghai Opponent’s Overall Career Prize Money Earnings in 2023
Carlos Alcaraz is set to face Grigor Dimitrov at the Shanghai Masters as the Spaniard looks to win his first championship since the Wimbledon 2023. The Spaniard will have to be at his best to overcome the veteran, who has enjoyed a good run of form in 2023. Alcaraz will go in the match as the favorite but it won’t be easy.
The match against Dimitrov offers another record for the young Spaniard. Carlos Alcaraz can overtake Dimitrov in the all-time career prize money earnings list. This will be a superb achievement considering the Spaniard is only 20 years of age and Dimitrov has been on tour since the last 15 years.
Carlos Alcaraz vs Grigor Dimitrov in prize money
Carlos Alcaraz is second on the list of highest prize money winners in 2023 with a staggering $9,312,064. In addition to his first Wimbledon triumph in July, the Spaniard also won two Masters titles in Indian Wells and Madrid, as well as the Queen’s Club title in June. Alcaraz’s career prize money total of $21,336,567 is evidence of the increased prize money in the men’s game, which is a startling number for a player who has only been at the top of the game for two years.
Meanwhile, Grigor Dimitrov has won a career prize money worth $23,622,637 in 15 years of his professional career. The Bulgarian star has reached the semifinals of two Grand Slams, the 2017 Australian Open and the 2019 US Open but has never won a Grand Slam title. Dimitrov has won only 8 ATP titles, while Alcaraz has already notched up 12 of those in such a short span of time.
While Dimitrov has enjoyed some success, his path to glory was always blocked by the likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. The ‘Big Three’ along with other tennis stars have stopped Dimitrov from achieving more success. Carlos Alcaraz will in all likelihood, overtake Dimitrov by the end of 2023 for the most prize money won in the career.
Alcaraz vs Dimitrov head to head and live streaming
Grigor Dimitrov is still looking for his first win against Carlos Alcaraz. The Spaniard has won all their 3 meetings so far. The last time these two played, it was at the 2023 Queen’s Club Championships. Alcaraz won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, which was key for him to go on to win his first-ever grass court title.
Their next match will take place in Shanghai on Wednesday, October 11 at 4 AM EST. Live streaming of the match for United States fans will be on Tennis TV.
