During the first day of the first Test of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia at Adelaide, India middle-order batsman Rohit Sharma played a horrific shot to get out, something which wasn’t accepted well by the Indian fans.
Sharma, who came out to bat at No.6 in the 21st over, rescued the Indian innings to an extent. While Cheteshwar Pujara was taking his time for getting into his grove, Sharma played his natural game which didn’t put a lot of pressure on Pujara.
Having said that, Sharma committed a massive error which led to his dismissal in a bizarre manner. Looking to up the ante, Sharma stepped out to Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon in the 38th over.
Having not properly timed the ball, Sharma got a lucky reprieve for his initial attempt saw him scoring a lucky six. Eager to go after the bowler, Sharma tried the same shot on the following delivery.
In which was a classic case of forcing the issue, Sharma ended up skying the ball to debutant Marcus Harris at deep square leg. Sharma ended up scoring 37 (61) with the help of two fours and three sixes.
While he scored more than his fellow batsmen, the fact that he literally gave away his wicket to the opposition saw him receiving a significant amount of flak on social media platform Twitter. Read some of the tweets on Sharma below:
