Conor McGregor lived up to the name of Mystic Mac 5 years ago today and precisely predicted what his opponent Jose Aldo would throw at him.

Before he became a globally recognized personality, Conor McGregor was busy garnering the performance of the night awards in UFC. The Irishman has 7 to his name till now, and among them, perhaps the most memorable one was registered on this date, 5 years ago.

On December 12, 2015, Conor McGregor was up against the Featherweight champion Jose Aldo at UFC 194. The two were a part of an intense build-up and the fight was expected to create a spectacle. But, what ultimately transpired at the event was a 13-second melee.

Conor McGregor walked the talk against Jose Aldo

In the run-up to the fight, Conor McGregor was asked how the contest will pan out. To which, just like every other confident fighter, McGregor predicted his victory and also laid out what he thinks will be the deciding factor.

McGregor apparently was shrewd when he took a gaze at Aldo at the staredown segment as before the fight he said, “I felt when we stared down, his right and was twitching a little bit. But, it was a subtle tell for me he is ready to unload that right hand. But, I feel that could be downfall for him if he lets that right hand go I will not be there.”

While it was a statement initially but later on it became reality. In the fight, Jose Aldo did indeed threw his right hand which did not meet the intended target. McGregor on the other hand, in the very moment, made contact with his left, and the rest- as Joe Rogan puts it “Oh! he slept him!”- is history.

Later when he was asked how he got it right. He took the opportunity to remind the world that one of his nicknames is Mystic Mac.
