Anderson Silva vs Anthony Pettis: Dana White opens up on a potential matchup between the former UFC middleweight champ and former UFC lightweight champ.
Anthony Pettis set tongues wagging when he requested Anderson Silva to fight him. The Brazilian accepted the invitation. However, Dana White claims that there is no reason to be excited about the possibility of an Anderson Silva vs Anthony Pettis match.

“I saw that, that they were going back and forth. Him and Pettis? Yeah no,” White told the media ahead of UFC Fight Night.
“Guys talk sh*t every day on Twitter and social media.”
The match was a pipe dream to begin with considering both of the fighters have spent all their careers fighting in different weight categories. Silva has mainly fought at 185lbs and 205lbs, while Pettis has fought mainly at 155lbs and as low as 145lbs.
However, Pettis has recently been fighting at 170lbs in the last few years while Silva has been open to a catchweight of 178lbs. The UFC president however, doesn’t see the two going toe to toe anytime soon.
At 45, Anderson Silva is the oldest fighter in the UFC. His last match was all the way back in UFC 237 when he lost via TKO (leg kicks) to Jared Cannonier. For a while, it appeared that his next match would be a super fight against Conor McGregor. However, the Irishman’s sudden retirement has dampened the plans.
