Conor McGregor, the former UFC two-weight champion, recently sent a message to female UFC champion Alexa Grasso via his official Twitter account. In March, the Mexican UFC star accomplished the seemingly unthinkable. She defeated one of the most dominant flyweight fighters, Valentina Shevchenko, to become the new UFC champion.

Following this achievement, Alexa Grasso has now hit yet another significant milestone in her UFC career. After Amanda Nunes retired, she is currently the number one pound-for-pound female fighter in the UFC.

What did Conor McGregor say to Alexa Grasso?

Conor McGregor is undoubtedly one of the greatest fighters in the history of the promotion. He has set a standard for upcoming MMA athletes. However, the Irishman often hails fellow fighters for their achievements.

He did the same while congratulating the female flyweight champion. Soon after the news was out, McGregor reacted with two words to the story. He wrote:

“Viva Mexico”

Before Grasso, the Brazilian star Amanda Nunes ruled the list. However, after her last victory in June, Nunes called it a career. She retired with a stunning 23-5 professional record under her name.’The Lioness’ is among the few female fighters who left a mark in UFC. The fight fans will always feel her void.

Meanwhile, in the number two position is Valentina Shevchenko. ‘The Bullet’ had a long undefeated run in the division. But after her loss to Grasso, she has dropped down to the number two position on the P4P list. However, Shevchenko will be coming for revenge now.

Shevchenko vs. Grasso 2 is inevitable

Shevchenko’s loss came as a huge shock to fans as it was the first time she was defeated since 2018. The Mexican female fighter just had the right game plan to best ‘The Bullet.’

Grasso was on a four-fight undefeated streak before becoming the new champion. Meanwhile, Shevchenko had seven title defenses before coming up short against Grasso.

After the loss, ‘The Bullet’ demanded an immediate rematch, following which Grasso also agreed. Given her previous run in UFC, it is sure that the promotion will make this rematch. ‘The Bullet’ will be coming in prepared for vengeance. It will be interesting to see how Grasso maintains her position and UFC title in the future.

What are your thoughts on the rematch? What do you guys think about Conor McGregor’s tweet?
