On Tuesday, August 18, Dana White in the conference after the contender Series episode, addressed multiple subjects. One of them was Jon Jones vacating the Light Heavyweight Title to potentially move to the Heavyweight division.
I’ve had only three close fights in the last decade, it’s safe to say the light heavy weight division has been cleared. Now I enter the heavyweight division when it’s at its all time best…

In the conference, White first confirmed that the title is indeed up for grabs, and at UFC 253 Dominick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz will contest for the UFC Gold. Later, Dana emphasized upon the idea of Jon Jones straightaway entering the Heavyweight title picture, but affirmed it is Francis Ngannou who is at the top of the pecking order right now.

While stating that, he also expressed his admiration towards the achievements of Bones, and frankly tagged him as the GOAT of UFC. Dana White said, “Well, I say it all the time. He’s the GOAT. If you look at his career right now, he’s like 26-1. He’s 27-0, never been beaten in the octagon. He’s fought the who’s who of the sport. He went through murderers’ row at 205 pounds and destroyed everybody. He’s the greatest of all time.”
Both White and Jones have been in loggerheads over the fight payout. But, with the aforementioned statement and Jon Jones’ sudden eagerness to fight in the Heavyweight division, only positive vibes are palpable.
