Some fighters who are elite of the elite have been two division champions. Simultaneously or at different points in time, these are some of the best fighters in the world. Fans wonder if there has been a three division champion in the UFC or not.

Fighting in multiple weight class is not easy. The fighters have to fight a bigger guy if they go up a weight class, or cut a lot of weight if they go down a weight class.

Three division champion in the UFC?

To fight in a different division is hard in the first place, and to become a champion is even harder. There hasn’t been a fighter in the UFC who was or is a three division champion. The weight gap would be too much to be a champion in three divisions.

Conor McGregor took the trend of becoming the double champ to another level. He defeated Jose Aldo in 13 seconds to become the 145-pound champion. Immediately after that, he moved up a weight class to 155 pounds and beat Eddie Alvarez to become the double champion.

Amanda Nunes in the only female fighter to hold multiple belts at the same time. She became the bantamweight champion by submitting Miesha Tate. She then went on to beat Chris Cyborg to become the featherweight champion of the world.

Henry Cejudo, one half of the main event at UFC 288 has held multiple titles at the same time. He beat Demetrious Johnson for the 125-pound belt. Triple C went on to beat TJ Dillashaw and become the 135-pound champion at the same time.

Daniel Cormier, Jon Jones, Georges St Pierre, BJ Penn are some of the other names who have been champions at two different weight classes. The UFC has still not found its fighter who could be a three division champion.

Who could be a potential three division champion?

UFC has many fighters who are elite of the elite when it comes to skills. It is tough to become a three division champion, but some fighters have hinted at it. Henry Cejudo is one of them. He is already a 125-pound champion and 135-pound champion.

He has called out Alexander Volkanovski, who is the 145-pound champion. That’s the toughest fight Henry Cejudo will ever have if it happens. Henry Cejudo looks to beat Aljamain Sterling for the 135-pound championship at UFC 288.

Cejudo’s plan is to then go on and defend the belt against Sean O’Malley. After that, he plans on to fight Alexander Volkanovski for the 145-pound championship. This all is subject to Triple C winning and Alexander being able to defend the belt against Yair Rodriguez.
