"I’m going to smash your face, chicken"- Khamzat Chimaev and Gerald Meerschaert Involved in a Heated Argument Just Days Before Their Fight at UFC Vegas 11

Just days before their much anticipated fight at UFC Vegas 11, Khamzat Chimaev and Gerald Meerschaert, engaged in a verbal altercation.

Ahead of their middleweight fight at UFC Vegas 11, Khamzat Chimaev and Gerald Meerschaert crossed paths and could not refrain from indulging in a verbal altercation. One of most talked about fighters of the recent time Chimaev, 26, apparently besieged Meerschaert, 32, with his team in the Host Hotel, which ensued some exchange of words.

Khamzat Chimaev and Gerald Meerschaert’s Verbal Spat

Some nasty things were said from both ends, however according to details, which are laid out by MMA Fighting, it was Khamzat who apparently initiated it. “He was here – I met him. I said he speak too much, he talk too much in the media. He disrespected me. He think I didn’t like that, but I said to him you like to talk too much. He said, ‘Yeah,’ I said I’m going to smash your face, chicken. He said nothing.”

According to Meerschaert, Khamzat started talking trash, but he did not say much and remained quiet, since he did not want to get in trouble just a few days before the fight, and hamper his chances to earn money from the fight.

“We passed each other in the hallway earlier today – it was pretty quick. He tried, I think he was trying to talk trash to me. He just kept saying, ‘don’t talk too much’ and I was kind of like ‘OK, we’re fighting Saturday, we’re not going to do anything now’ because I want to make money. I don’t know what his deal is.

“Not only that, but I don’t think it’s a very cool thing to flex when you’ve got a bunch of your friends with you and stuff. Like I had one guy with me, he had a bunch of guys with him. Dude, I get it. You don’t have to like me, I don’t have to like you but let’s just save it for the cage.”

Khamzat Chimaev Vs. Gerald Meerschaert was already generating much buzz, and now the fight has seemingly picked up more steam. Though, it would be up to the fighters now to transform this outside animosity, into an in-ring spectacle.
