Khamzat Chimaev makes history at UFC Fight Island 3. The new sensation, mauled his opponent to win his 2nd match inside only 10 days.
Khamzat Chimaev made his UFC debut only 10 days back. He beat John Philips at UFC on the July 15th card and requested a spot in the UFC Fight Island 3 card. Dana granted him his wish and he was booked to face Rhys McKee.
UFC’s hot new prospect however, made short work of bis opponent with a TKO victory in the first round after only 3:09 minutes. With this win, he now has the record of the quickest turnaround victory in UFC history (10 days).
I’m going to smash everybody!
After the win, Chimaev expressed his desire for an even quicker turnaround and fight again later on the card.
“I can fight after one hour maybe,” Chimaev said with a smile on his face. “If somebody is injured, I’m here. I’m going to smash everybody. It doesn’t matter. I’m going to smash everybody.”
McKee himself was making his UFC debut. He was on a 3-match winning streak. However, it all came crashing down for him almost as soon as it began. Within just 20 seconds of the fight, he was taken to the ground and he never got up after that.
