Khamzat Chimaev takes another cheeky dig at his supposed favorite MMA figure in that regard, Conor McGregor.
The year’s first Pay-Per-View event UFC 257 is upon us and its biggest attraction Conor McGregor has settled inside the fight island. While the marquee show is a star-studded event but Conor McGregor remains to be the prime focus. The Irishman’s return is a much-awaited one and fans all around are losing patience to witness him step inside the Octagon once again.
However, the Notorious one has many naysayers as well, who are also on stand by to make fun of him. While many might be expecting to see him falter at the main event and lose his bout, there are a few who have started to take a dig before UFC 257. And leading the queue is none other than the new animated figure in UFC’s roster, Khamzat Chimaev.
Khamzat Chimaev Mocks Conor McGregor Before His Return On UFC 257
On Tuesday, Khamzat Chimaev threw a response on a UFC post on Instagram, which contained a still of Conor along with the caption, which asked, what version of Conor McGregor you are expecting on Saturday?
Which Khamzat apparently noticed and reacted upon thereafter. Khamzat wrote: “the chicken is back”

Khamzat Chimaev was initially a part of this stretch at fight island but, Covid-19 complications scrapped his scheduled January 20 headliner with Leon Edwards. Had the bout proceeded he would have come in close proximity of Mystic Mac and might have told him what he thinks of him, however, that cannot happen, yet the Swede is making his presence felt from distance.
Khamzat Chiaev’s Next Fight
Khamzat Chimaev’s fight with Leon Edwards is re-booked for March 13 and after failing to get past the fight sheet on two occasions, it is expected that the curse has ended and the third time will be a charm.
Who will enter as the favorite? Khamzat has had a tremendous 2020, the fighter debuted at the UFC scene in July 2020, and within 66 days had three victories to his name. With this impressive show in the Octagon, Chimaev in quick time made his way into the Welterweight rankings as well. The 28-year-old holds the 15th spot in the UFC Welterweight rankings.
While 2020 turned out to be unforgettable for Khamzat Chimaev, for Leon Edwards it proved to be quite the opposite. Throughout the year, Rocky was seeking an opportunity to get inside the ring again, and even saw his name cut off from the Top-15 on account of inactivity (More than a year). After enduring all the frustration, when finally he got booked alongside Khamzat, the Pandemic played its part. Leon Edwards is still on an 8-match winning streak. And he is looking to get that one last push to reach the title shot.
So, the build-up is ideal, and on March 13, we will finally witness who will prevail in this fight between the newcomer Vs. the old guard.
