Who is Irwin Rivera?: The UFC Fighter arrested on charges of attempted murder

Irwin Rivera, a UFC fighter committed a heinous crime on Thursday and now may serve a stern punishment.

On Thursday, a shocking news broke-out about Irwin Rivera, a fighter associated with the leading MMA promotion in the world. The fighter allegedly stabbed his sisters (2) during the wee hours of Thursday and then fled from the spot, which was a house in Daytona Beach, Florida.

The local police however later caught hold of Rivera. In the sequence, Rivera was booked into custody at the main detention center in West Palm Beach. As per sources, the 31-year-old has accepted his crime and stated that he wanted to harm his sisters because it was his purpose, and told the authorities that he was told to do so by a higher power.

According to reports, Rivera inflicted wounds to his sisters by several whacks through a brass-knuckle knife. However, fortunately, both women were taken to the hospital on time and are now stable.

UFC’s Statement On Irwin Rivera

After learning about the incident UFC released a statement addressing the convicted fighter. UFC revealed in a statement to MMA fighting that, Irwin Rivera’s manager Ali Abdelaziz had informed the promotion about the unstable mental state of Rivera.

“UFC is aware of the recent incident involving Irwin Rivera and subsequently received information from his management that he has been exhibiting behavior consistent with mental health issues.

“The allegations are extremely troubling and the organization is currently gathering additional information. The investigation is ongoing and any potential next steps including disciplinary action or medical attention will be determined upon the conclusion. Furthermore, UFC has informed Rivera’s management that he will not be offered a bout at this time.”

Irwin Rivera: UFC Record

After tasting success in other promotions, the former Bantamweight champion of Titan FC made his debut in UFC in 2020.

In 2020, Irwin Rivera competed thrice in UFC’s Featherweight division. He endured inconsistency and has one successful outing to his name. He carries an overall record of 10-6 in MMA.
