VCT Masters 2023 Tokyo: Qualified teams, Schedule & More

VCT Masters 2023 Tokyo will have 12 participating teams. Some receive top seeds and direct entry to playoffs while others will have to go through group stages. Let’s discuss this further.

VCT Masters is a yearly event to determine the favorites heading into Valorant Champions. There have been four Masters tournaments in the history of Valorant and this will be the fifth one. Following this tournament, we will have Champions which will be the most hyped VCT event of this year. The LCQ will begin after the Masters and will decide the remaining teams that make Champions.

The event will be the talk of the Valorant community and nearly everyone will be tuning in to watch the event unfold. Let us take a look at everything you need to know about the VCT Masters Event ranging from the prize pool to the schedule and more.

All three regions plus the Chinese teams have secured their tickets to the event by making playoffs and being the top teams in their region. The Masters Tokyo event will showcase the best Valorant teams on display this year. Let us take a look at all the teams that have qualified for the event.

Qualified Teams for the VCT Masters 2023 Tokyo

There are 12 qualified teams for this event. The Top 4 out of these twelve will skip the group stages and go directly into the playoffs. The remaining eight teams will have to play the group stages, the format of which we will discuss below. There are four EMEA teams, three American teams, three Pacific teams, and two Chinese teams.

Schedule

The tournament will begin on the 11th of June and will last till the 25 of the same month. There will be group stages and playoffs. The group stages will begin on June 11 and last till June 14. The playoffs on the other hand will begin on June 15 and conclude on June 21.

The final leg of the tournament will be held on June 24-25. The event will take place in two locations; the first is the Tripstar Dome, located in Chibi Park while the second one is the Makuhari Messe convention center. There are no fixtures as of yet but we will update this article as soon as they announce the matches.

Prize Pool

The total prize pool of the tournament is $1,000,000 USD. Let us break down how much each team will earn depending on their position during the end of the Tournament.

  • Champions – $350,000
  • Runner-up – $200,000
  • Third – $125,000
  • Fourth – $75,000
  • Fifth-Sixth – $50,000
  • Seventh-Eighth – $35,000
  • Ninth-Tenth – $25,000
  • 11/12 – $15,000

VCT Masters 2023 Tokyo: Format

As we pointed out in the schedule, the group stages will last from June 11 to June 14th. The group stages will be a double elimination format in which if a team loses twice they get eliminated. The lower-seeded teams will play in this group stage. Each group will have four teams and all matches in these groups will be Best of Three. The top two teams in Group A and B will advance to playoffs.

The playoffs will begin on June 16th and will last the remainder of the tournament concluding with the finals. The playoffs will have a double-elimination format with an upper and a lower bracket. The four qualified teams from the group stages and the four top-seed teams will participate in the playoffs.

All the matches in the playoffs will be Best of Three except for the Lower Final and the Grand Final which will be Best of Five.

Note: Three of the best-placed EMEA teams will qualify for Champions while the worst-placed one will go to the LCQ.
