Rohit Sharma’s debut series as captain of the Indian team has been an eventful one, scripting a comeback win, after having received a drubbing at the hands of the Sri Lankan bowlers in Dharamshala.

Rohit’s gentle rustle of silk pressed a claim for higher things as a captain at one end and a power hammer from the boys at the other end made the job pretty much easier.

In Virat Kohli’s absence, the interim skipper Rohit Sharma fulfilled the fans’ expectations with a 2-1 series win over Sri Lanka, confirming India’s 8th consecutive ODI bilateral series win.

After being 0-1 down, Rohit Sharma & Co’s desperate steep bounce in the game in search of an immediate recovery was consigned to making winning memories.

By now, Rohit must have infused a sense of motivation and confidence in his boys and it’s just the formula that India wanted before heading into the T20I carnival.

Talking about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, Yuzvendra Chahal shrugged off possibilities of comparing the individuals as he claimed that one is different from the other.

“One cannot compare both individuals. Virat’s captaincy is different and so is Rohit’s. Our main focus is on our bowling,” Chahal told the reporters at the post-match conference following India’s 2-1 ODI series win over Sri Lanka.

MS Dhoni too subtly carried out his job of helping them on-field captain, drawing from his own experience as captain of the national team

“We discuss the fielding positions. We can discuss things with Rohit and MS Dhoni also chips in. There was no such difference,” Chahal said.

He also added that Rohit Sharma wanted them to be fearless.

“Sri Lanka were under pressure and we needed wickets. We put one slip in place. The wicket was assisting spin. On this wicket, you needed a slip because the shot Niroshan Dickwella attempted, if there was no slip in place, it would have been a boundary. He had tried it in the previous match. (Skipper) Rohit Sharma told us to bowl without fear. If one bowls short, batsmen can easily play on this track. So, the aim was to bowl with a bit more air,” he added.

The task is not completed yet as Rohit Sharma would want his boys to match the commitment levels for the upcoming 3-match T20I series against Sri Lanka with the first one scheduled to be played on December 20 at Cuttack.
