WATCH: A Roger Federer career rally consisting of points from every year that he has played on tour
36 years in the world, 18 years on tour; Roger Federer’s legacy with the racquet in hand is probably the most romantic thing in sport. A young boy from Basel, who dreamt of competing in the finest tournaments that Tennis had to offer, has now conquered every single one of them.
But none of it could have happened had he not changed his mental attitude towards the sport. Peter Carter, Federer’s first coach taught him all about the game, from his underlying technique to his stylish gameplay. And while that would have been enough to beat players at the junior level, it wasn’t good enough at the senior pro level.
Carter died in a car accident, an accident that changed Federer’s life forever. The loss took a grave toll on Federer, but it did something magical to his mental attitude. The brash kid made way for this calm and composed man, who went about his business on court in the most graceful manner ever.
18 years on tour and Federer has maintained this calm exterior all through. Carter’s death transformed him, helped him brew his career with all the right ingredients, and Federer has been on a high ever since.
The point of mentioning this in this video article is that it is very important to know the reason why Federer could reach the top, and stay there for so long.
Greatest Tribute Video ever?
Federer’s fan following is such that he gets the best possible tributes from his fans every year. So much thought, so much love, so much reverence; Federer almost gets this love out of his fans.
In this beautifully crafted video, this fan has selected one rally from Federer’s each year on tour and has masterfully blended it all into ONE SINGLE rally. The video ends with a beautiful back hand winner in the Australian Open 2017.
