Virat Kohli highlights Rohit Sharma: The Indian captain appreciated the vice-captain hitting a direct-hit.

During the fourth ODI of the ongoing Australia’s tour of India at Mohali, India vice-captain Rohit Sharma enticed the attention of India captain Virat Kohli on the field. It happened after the former hit a direct-hit on to the stumps.

On the second ball of the seventh over, Australia middle-order batsman Peter Handscomb had punched a Bhuvneshwar Kumar delivery to Sharma at cover. Sharma was then spotted throwing the ball back to the stumps at the non-striker’s end.

With him not entirely looking at the stumps and still hitting them impressed the Indian skipper. On a funny note, Kohli then gestured playing marbles towards Sharma.

Talking about the match, Australia lost a couple of early wickets which affected their attempt to chase a 359-run target. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who is playing his first match since the tour of New Zealand, drew first blood after he dismissed Australia captain Aaron Finch (0) in the first over.

It was Bhuvneshwar’s new-ball partner in Jasprit Bumrah who then dismissed Shaun Marsh (6) in the fourth over. Since then, Usman Khawaja and Peter Handscomb have been battling it out in the middle.

After Kohli won the toss and chose to bat, India ended up scoring 358-9 in their allotted quota of 50 overs. The opening pair of Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma stitched a 193-run opening stand to give India a head-start in the match.

Top-scoring for his team, Dhawan ended up scoring his 16th ODI century, 143 (115), with the help of 18 fours and three sixes. With bowling figures of 10-0-70-5, Cummins was the pick of the Australian bowlers.
