Why the Kosatka is still one of the best GTA Online investments in 2023

Over the years, multiple GTA Online updates have added properties, hubs, and other businesses to the game. However, none stand out as much as the Kosatka does. As a submersible, mobile property, the Kosatka was groundbreaking when it was released in 2020. It serves as the planning base for the Cayo Perico while being a completely driveable property. Equipped with a scanner for loot and space for other utilities, here’s everything the Kosatka is capable of.

Despite Cayo Perico heist nerfs, the Kosatka is still a great purchase in GTA Online

The base cost of a Kosatka Submarine is $2,200,000 and can go up to $9,085,000. However, a few of these “optional” upgrades are absolute must-haves to get the most out of the Kosatka. Here are the upgrade prices and uses:

  • Color: $75,000
  • Sonar Station: $1,200,000
  • Guided Missiles: $1,900,000
  • Weapon Workshop: $350,000
  • Sparrow Helicopter: $1,815,000
  • Avisa Submersible: $1,545,000

Out of these upgrades, the Sparrow and Guided Missiles are arguably the most useful. Since the Kosatka serves as the base for Cayo Perico prep missions, players can use the Sparrow to easily get in and out of the submarine, wherever they are.

By comparison, the other vehicle, the Avisa is a submersible that is considerably less handy. If purchased for the Kosatka, players can use the sonar function in the Avisa to find sunken treasure. However, the payout for a hidden cache is only $7,500 and 500 RP (Max 10 per day), making it a poor investment of time and money.

The Kosatka has a neat Fast Travel feature that can help players get closer to missions on the northern part of San Andreas for just GTA $2,000 (after completing the heist once). Additionally, players can even store their Toreadors in the Kosatka for easy deployments on missions. The icing on the cake is the Guided Missile station on the Kosatka that allows players to take out targets without even leaving the ship. Considering the value the Kosatka adds on top of the Cayo Perico heist, buying it is a no-brainer.
