Asuka vs Sasha Banks The Boss wins the Raw Women’s Championship to become 2 Belt Banks

Asuka vs Sasha Banks ends with the legit Boss coming out on top at the Horror Show at Extreme Rules. The finish however, left a sour aftertaste.

Asuka and Sasha Banks are undoubtedly two of the best wrestlers in the world regardless of gender. It was only natural that they would put on an amazing performance together. All their hardwork however, was undone by the finish.

What could have been a match of the year candidate was severely hampered by an overbooked finish that saw Bayley don the referee’s shirt and count the pin to declare her tag team partner the new Raw Women’s Champion.

Asuka vs Sasha Banks steals the show at Extreme Rules

Earlier in the match, Banks attempted a quick Banks Statement. However, Asuka managed to escaped. ‘The Empress of Tomorrow’ also managed to avoid a sunset flip bomb and hit a sliding knee onto Banks’ face to assert herself in the match.

Banks regained dominance in the match after Powerbombing Asuka into the plexiglass at ringside. She then delivered a frog splash and transitioned it into a Banks Statement, Asuka managed to breakthrough and attempted a German Suplex from the top rope. However, Banks landed on her feet.

The challenger used her momentum to launch a counter but slipped off the rope to come up lame. Asuka took the opportunity to place her challenger in the Asuka lock but Bayley ran interference before brawling with Kairi Sane.

Banks would eventually tap out but Bayley’s interference once again meant that the referee did not catch it. Asuka connected with a round house kick to Bayley and aimed the mist on Banks. However, Banks ducked in time with the mist knocking the referee out instead.

Asuka catches Banks in the Asuka lock once again before Bayley knocks her out with the title. She pulls the refs shirt and wears it herself before counting the three and crowing Sasha Banks the first ever 5-time RAW Women’s Champion.

What has so far been the match of the night was scarred by the horrible finish. The sliver lining in all of this, is that it is certain that the pair will clash against each other once again and this time on a much bigger platform; SummerSlam.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
