Bayley turns on Sasha Banks after failing to recapture tag titles

Bayley turns on Sasha Banks after failing to recapture tag titles. The SmackDown women’s champion brutalised her best friend after the loss.

This has been a long time coming. Sasha Banks returned to the WWE last year and eventually joined hands with her best friend Bayley once again. Fans have since expected the pair to break up and finally put on a fight everyone knows they’re capable of. The WWE, who have been taking their time with the story have finally pulled the trigger on the feud and what a way to kickstart the rivalry.

The former Women’s tag team champions were on a mission to reclaim the titles they lost to Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler at WWE Payback. However, Banks injured her leg during the match. The pair would eventually lose after being pinned by Jax.

After the match, Banks was attended by medical personnel. However, she shoved them away from her. Bayley offered to walk her partner out of the ring and help her out of the ropes. Just when you thought the segment was coming to a close, it finally happened.

The SmackDown Women’s champion snapped on her best friend and attacked her. The beating went on for quite some time. Banks tried to fight back but Bayley overpowered injured star and continued the beatdown much to Michael Cole’s disgust.

She knocked Banks with a knee to her face then wrapped a steel chair around her neck. Bayley then delivered the final blow with a Pilmanizer to Banks’ neck. The former RAW women’s champion was taken out on a stretcher to close the segment.

This was brilliantly done by the WWE after months and months of teasing it. Considering the extent of the beatdown it is unlikely that Banks will return anytime soon. It is possible that the WWE may keep her off television and make her return as a surprise entrant at the Royal Rumble, setting up a title clash at Wrestlemania.

However, there are a few PPV’s in between that could see her return as well. There’s Hell in a Cell and TLC in November and December. Two excellent pay per views with Stipulations that could do justice to the story being told. For now though, we can only wait and watch the story unfold.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
