Conor McGregor has never shied away from speaking his mind about WWE and WWE superstars. In the past, the UFC megastar heaped a lot of criticism on the WWE. But McGregor’s insults on WWE have remained ongoing. After Endeavor acquired WWE, McGregor tweeted a picture of him holding both UFC and the WWE Championship. This led to a few heated exchanges with Paul Heyman. In the most recent now-deleted tweet, McGregor called Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman “wannabees”, before hinting that he would be making his debut in WWE soon.

Reacting to The Notorious One’s picture holding the top titles of both companies, Paul Heyman tagged McGregor as a Roman Reigns “wannabe”. This spurred the Irish fighter on to engage in a war of words with Paul Heyman. Responding to Heyman, McGregor warned him, stating that he would show up and break his (Heyman’s) jaw in three places.

Conor McGregor calls Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman “wannabees”, hinting at his debut in WWE

In a now-deleted series of tweets, Conor McGregor reacted to a report stating that Roman Reigns may hold on to his World Titles till September 2024. McGregor took to Twitter and labeled Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman as “wannabees” before deleting it.

He also added that he would “suplex Paul Heyman on-site”.

McGregor, who himself held two titles simultaneously in the UFC, called himself the only champ before calling Roman out for a match at SummerSlam. He wrote:

“Summerslam I’ll pull in on the yacht. Roman and Paul out the bus.”

Did the UFC icon just tease his debut in WWE? If that’s the case, their feud is possible due to their history.

Back in 2016, Roman Reigns shut Conor McGregor up by responding to his tweet. Conor McGregor tweeted he would slap the head off of the WWE roster. Taking umbrage at McGregor’s tweet, Roman Reigns belittled McGregor by telling him to shut up, as he is only the size of Roman Reigns’ leg.

With the imminent merger of WWE and UFC, it will be interesting to see the duo cross paths in the future. WWE has always been welcoming to non-WWE stars looking to try out wrestling. The 34-year-old has all the main ingredients that make a sports entertainer. However, it’s worth noting that Conor McGregor still hasn’t retired from MMA.

Roman Reigns does not have a clear opponent for Night of Champions yet

Roman Reigns is not scheduled to defend his WWE Undisputed Universal Championship at Backlash in Puerto Rico on May 6th. However, the Tribal Chief will very well be competing at the Night of Champions in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on May 27th.

As of this writing, Roman Reigns does not have a challenger. Multiple reports have suggested that Reigns’ challenger will be revealed on SmackDown after Backlash.

Interestingly, Roman Reigns is going to hit a new milestone at the Night of Champions. The Head of the Table will complete his 1000th day as the Universal Champion. At this point, Roman Reigns’ legendary World Title reign seems to be far from over.
