Matt Riddle pins Champion on WWE debut

Matt Riddle pins Champion on WWE debut. The former UFC fighter was embroiled in controversy before the airing of SmackDown.

The world of wrestling has been taken by storm following revelations of sexual misconduct by several male wrestlers. One of the names that have come up recently was Matt Riddle. Serious allegations were laid on him on twitter that led many to wonder if the WWE would feature his debut.

Candy Cartwright, an independent wrestler accused Riddle of threatened and sexually assaulted her back in 2018. Riddle has since announced a press release denying any wrongdoing.


The WWE swiftly announced that individuals are responsible for their actions and anyone convicted would have their contracts terminated.

Despite the speculation surrounding his debut, Riddle did finally arrive on SmackDown.

AJ Styles recently won the Intercontinental Championship. He kickstarted the recent episode celebrating the title. Styles had Daniel Bryan, the man he defeated for the title, wrap the title around his waist. Bryan then suggested Styles defend his title against a worthy opponent.

Bryan brought up Drew Gulak’s name. However, Styles began piling on the excuses to avoid facing him when suddenly the word ‘bro’ echoed around the performance centre. Riddle walked down the ramp for his debut.


After a brief altercation, the pair fought a dramatic match that saw Riddle pin the intercontinental champion on his main roster debut.

It’ll be interesting to see where the WWE goes from here. Notwithstanding the allegations, it appears that the WWE have big plans for Matt Riddle. That is, until he is proven guilty.
