With much higher stakes on the line, both competitors put on an excellent show in the Capitol Wrestling Center. There was a prize and in the end, only one of them could have come out on top. Iin a surprising twist of sorts that someone happened to be LA Knight.

New Million Dollar Champion at NXT TakeOver: In Your House

Cameron Grimes and LA Knight took each other to hell and back. They used the ladder as a weapon several times. The finish of the match saw Cameron Grimes come extremely close to unhooking the title. However, LA Knight tipped the ladder sending Cameron Grimes through the bridging ladder.

LA Knight then climbed the golden ladder and claimed the glass case that contained the Million Dollar Championship.

He is now only the sixth WWE Superstar to hold the Million Dollar Title in history. DiBiase and Virgil held the title before it was deactivated in 1992. It was brought back for Stone Cold Steve Austin who held the belt as The Ringmaster from December 1995 – May 1996. Ted DiBiase Jr. also  held the title for a few months in 2010, but it was deactivated again until tonight.

It will be interesting to see how the title is treated in NXT and what is in store for it in the future. Only time will tell.

Archie is a WWE and UFC Editor/Author at the SportsRush. Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
