By 2023, it’s pretty obvious that CM Punk lacked friends in the AEW company. Almost the majority of the locker room was not okay with having The Straight Edged Superstar backstage. Well, that’s not entirely true as he did have some buddies, one of them being Dax Harwood. In fact, when Harwood replaced William Regal’s Gentleman Villain podcast FTR with Dax Harwood, the first episode was dedicated to CM Punk. However, what he said on the podcast has not been received well by all in AEW.
During the podcast, Dax Harwood opened up about the post-All Out brawl-out between CM Punk and The Elite. The former AEW Tag Team Champion also shared how The Straight Edged Superstar talked to him after the incident. Harwood claimed Punk gave him a call after the whole dispute. Moreover, he even asserted that Punk never wanted to win the AEW title.
Talking about the controversy, Harwood hoped both parties could sort out their issues and help better pro wrestling as a whole.
Some in AEW are not okay with Dax Harwood for his remarks about CM Punk
Dax Harwood is a longtime friend of CM Punk and therefore, he hoped for things to get better. However, according to Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez, a few names in AEW were not pleased with that.
During a recent Wrestling Observer Radio, both men discussed what Dax Harwood said about CM Punk on his podcast. And as they have learned from their sources, many in AEW were unhappy with Harwood.
“From what I [Dave Meltzer] heard from different people [in AEW], not the people who you probably heard from, they were not particularly happy at all about this,” Meltzer stated.
The whole thing was confirmed by Alvarez who claimed many AEW people were not pleased about that podcast. Dave Meltzer even believes AEW must hold a meeting and address these issues to bring everyone on the same page.

The FTR member has brought a lot of heat on himself with just one episode of his podcast
Earlier, it was William Regal who used to be the host of the podcast that aired on Ad Free Shows. Back then, the show was called Gentleman Villain podcast. However, since he has gone from AEW and will soon be in WWE, he’s been replaced by Dax Harwood. The show is now named FTR with Dax Harwood and so far, one episode has been aired.
As a matter of fact, Harwood has started things with Punk and has already caused a stir backstage in AEW. Expecting the podcast to be a long-term thing, one can only imagine what could happen in the future.
