William Regal Reportedly on His Way Back to WWE After Making His Final AEW Appearance This Week
Last year, when Vince McMahon decided to rebrand NXT into NXT 2.0, many major people were released from the company. One of them was the former General Manager of the brand, William Regal. Earlier this year in January, “The Old Pro” was let go by the ex-WWE CEO. The Hall of Famer then signed with AEW and worked as an onscreen coach of the Blackpool Combat Club faction. However, according to the latest reports, “Sir” William Regal could very well be on his way back to WWE.
The Hall of Famer had been actively involved in a storyline on AEW alongside Jon Moxley and the current champion, MJF. At last month’s Full Gear PPV, Regal betrayed his group helping MJF win his first-ever major title.
However, the recent episode of AEW Dynamite saw The Old Pro getting double-crossed and written off TV. Now, some reports claim William Regal is done with AEW and in fact, returning to WWE.
A couple of days ago, without disclosing any details, Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer indicated the Hall of Famer might be leaving AEW. Although he did note that Regal has signed a three-year-long contract, but asserted there’s more going on.
Pwinsider’s new report claims Willian Regal will be going WWE soon
In the recent report, Pwinsider‘s Mike Johnson made a huge statement regarding the current AEW status of 54-year-old Hall of Famer. According to the report, William Regal will be bound to WWE soon.
Johnson further added although nothing is officially announced yet, whispers within WWE suggest he could return for a backstage role. Moreover, the report suggested MJF attacking Regal in the recent Dynamite episode could be an effect of that.
Johnson stated:
“All signs are that William Regal, 54, will be World Wrestling Entertainment-bound shortly. Although we have heard nothing official from the company, there have been rumblings within WWE of late about Regal returning in a backstage role…”

It has also been reported that William Regal’s current stint with AEW will be ending later this month. Plus, the way AEW wrote him off the TV has ignited the fire of his WWE return even more.
Triple H also recalled his NXT buddy before WWE’s recent Pay-per-view
On 27 November, WWE held its first-ever Survivor Series WarGames event on the main roster. However, before the show, the new Head of WWE Creative, Triple H, took to Twitter and made a usual post.
WWE, which often avoids mentioning stars of other promotions, was seen post seen posting a video of a current AEW star. The Game posted a montage that showed William Regal saying the word “WarGames” in NXT.

Nevertheless, considering the current rumors, there are signs that William Regal could be returning to WWE. However, until any party makes an official statement, all of this could just be conjecture.
