The current WWE Undisputed Champion Roman Reigns is enjoying a lengthy reign as the face of both brands. However, WWE is reportedly going to change things up. Roman Reigns has been at the top of the food chain for the longest time. The Tribal Chief unified the top titles after defeating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38 in a winner take all match. Since then, many top stars have tried to dethrone the Head of the Table but to no avail. As we approach WrestleMania 39, the WWE Universe has been speculating that Reigns’ cousin The Rock would be the one to subvert the Bloodline’s leader and take one of his titles.
In addition, another possible top pick to end Roman’s reign is Cody Rhodes. The American Nightmare made his groundbreaking comeback at WrestleMania 38. Rhodes was booked to have stellar matches in the company, however, the brevity of his run stalled WWE’s plans for Cody Rhodes.
Ahead of 2022’s Hell in a Cell PPV, Rhodes tore his pectoral muscle while training in the gym. Despite the accident, Rhodes still showed up and defeated Seth Rollins. Since his absence, WWE Universe has been keeping close tabs on Rhodes and is expecting a massive comeback.
Spoilers for WrestleMania 39 Night 1 and 2
As we all know, WrestleMania has been a two-night affair since its 36th edition. The road to WrestleMania starts at the Royal Rumble. WrestlingNews.Co have reported that WWE is yet to freeze the deal with The Rock about his return.
Although the word about The Rock’s return has spread like wildfire, their match remains unofficial. Reports state that WWE is trying to lock the deal with The Great One before Royal Rumble. If WWE fails to sign The Rock for Mania, Cody Rhodes will get the opportunity to challenge the Tribal Chief for The Universal Championship.
Current plan for the #WrestleMania main event:
Night 1
Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre or Cody Rhodes for the WWE ChampionshipNight 2
Roman Reigns vs. TBD for the Universal ChampionshipIf they can’t get The Rock then Cody will be in the spot against Roman.

On Night 1, WWE is reportedly planning a match between Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre or Cody Rhodes for The WWE Championship. On Night 2, Roman Reigns will seemingly face either The Rock or Cody Rhodes, again, Cody will face Roman only if The Rock does not make it to the grandest stage.
But wait, how will WWE split the WWE Championship and Universal Championship? As of this writing, it’s still unclear when and to whom Roman Reigns will drop his WWE title but in doing so, each brand will have its own top title again.
Cody Rhodes hints at having major plans for 2023

Although The American Nightmare did not have a straightforward answer, he stated that he is going to pick up where he left off.
