Roman Reigns has had an indomitable run since returning as the Tribal Chief. The Head of the table is the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion since he beat Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship at last year’s WrestleMania. However, it appears that he may not hold on to the title for very long now. There have long been rumors that the WWE want to separate the titles so both RAW and SmackDown can have a World Champion each, and we now possibly have a timeline regarding when this may take place.

The way Roman Reigns’ character has been developed, it is almost unfathomable to see him lose. The aura he has around his character requires him to stay unbeaten. You can’t have a final boss that has already been conquered. Which is why the WWE are looking for ways to separate the WWE and Universal titles without hurting the impregnable character they’ve built for almost three years now.
Roman Reigns will be stripped of the WWE Championship on RAW after the Royal Rumble
According to a report from Xero News, there is a pitch for Roman Reigns to be stripped off the WWE Championship. He followed this by mentioning that this could take place as soon as the RAW after the Royal Rumble, where he will face Kevin Owens. He did add, however, that it could also happen shortly after the Elimination Chamber pay per view, where he will reportedly take on his stablemate Sami Zayn.
This could be as soon as Raw after Rumble
However some was saying just after EC.
Will have more next week hopefully. https://t.co/rzarEKLc3C

Another interesting bit of information from this report is WWE’s plans for the vacant WWE Championship.
WWE planning a tournament to crown new WWE Champion
WWE will reportedly hold a tournament for the WWE Championship. This tournament will conclude in the main event of WrestleMania 39 Night 1.
Interestingly, that there have been prior reports that claimed Cody Rhodes would main event night 1 against either Drew McIntyre or Seth Rollins for the WWE Championship. At the time, the reported matches were hard to envision. However, if WWE actually strip Roman of the WWE Championship, then the aforementioned reports could very well become a reality.
It is also interesting to note that Seth Rollins recently tweeted his desire to Main event WrestleMania, lending even more credence to the rumors.
Really feel like main eventing WrestleMania this year.

However, as is with most rumors, one has to take them with a grain of salt, for plans are constantly changing in the WWE, especially during Mania season. Nothing is set in stone until you see it happen with your own eyes.
