What is this ‘new tennis life’ that Djokovic is speaking about?

Former world number one Novak Djokovic recently spoke of a fresh start that he is taking in his tennis career. He also mentioned the likes of Nadal and Federer in an insightful interview just a few days ago. So what is this ‘new tennis life’ that Djokovic is speaking about?

Djokovic is in Monte Carlo ahead of what promises to be a very exciting and competitive clay court season.

‘It’s very beautiful to be in a place where I spend most of my time when I am not on the ATP Tour’, Djokovic said during the Media Day on Sunday. ‘I practice and I have my home here. This week I can sleep in my own bed and I am with my loved ones.’

 

 

‘Obviously the first three months of the year didn’t go the way I wanted, I didn’t get results I was used to in the last seven or eight years, but I am aware that having ups and downs is normal enough for an athlete.’

Novak is still quite confident in his own abilities and is looking forward to winning in Monte Carlo.

‘I believe in myself, in my abilities and I think that results will come sooner or later. Now I am only focused on Monte Carlo and I hope it’s the right place so that another tennis life for me starts. In the Davis Cup match (against Albert Ramos) I served very well for the first time in much time.

When you start to lose, other players start to see you as someone vulnerable, it happened to Federer and Nadal too and you have to deal with it. I think that last year preparing for Olympics after Wimbledon instead of resting broke my balance a little bit, but the most important thing is that I took a step back and saw what it didn’t work. The first step to improve is knowing the solutions.’
