BCCI and DD Sports announce schedule: The iconic sports channel will telecast some of India’s old matches during the ongoing lockdown.

The outbreak of a “pandemic” in the novel COVID-19 has put a halt to all live events including sports. With the virus initiating a global crisis, it has brought the world to a standstill.

The 13th season of the Indian Premier League, which was originally scheduled to begin last month, has been delayed till April 15 and is one of the many cricket tournaments which have been affected by this pandemic.

With no live cricket match being played, Star Sports Network had announced to telecast some of the iconic matches from the past including the semi-final and the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup and some old matches of the Indian Premier League.

Following a similar step, DD Sports in association with BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) have decided to televise some of India’s matches from the decades gone by.

It is worth mentioning that DD National and Star Bharat are already televising some of their iconic shows to keep the audiences engaged in times when all kinds of shootings have been called-off.

The development regarding the cricket matches was made public by BCCI on their official Twitter account. Starting from April 7 (tomorrow), DD Sports will telecast 20 matches across formats from South Africa’s tour of India 2000, Australia’s tour of India 2001, West Indies’ tour of India 2002, TVS Cup 2003 and Sri Lanka’s tour of India 2005 till April 14 (last day of lockdown as of now).
