On This Day: David Warner smashed 28th IPL half-century vs RCB in Hyderabad
David Warner smashed 28th IPL half-century: Sunrisers captain hit the visiting bowlers to all parts of the ground.
On this day in 2016, SunRisers Hyderabad opening batsman David Warner played another of those quintessential match-winning innings for his team during the 27th match of the ninth season of the Indian Premier League against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Hyderabad.
After RCB captain Virat Kohli won the toss and chose to field, Warner seemed to be determined enough to prove his counterpart’s decision wrong. It was only on the second delivery that Warner faced that he scored a boundary off Royal Challengers pacer Kane Richardson.
Having hit two more fours off Parvez Rasool and Richardson, Warner then took on RCB’s Harshal Patel as he hit him for his first six of the night. It was on the first delivery of his 10th over that Warner made room to hit Rasool through extra cover for a boundary and bring up his 28th IPL half-century.
In what was his 18th IPL half-century for Hyderabad, the southpaw slowed a bit before again attacking the visiting bowlers. Having hit a six off Rasool on the last delivery of the 14th over, Warner executed the helicopter shot to perfection on the second delivery off the next over bowled by Richardson.
Not letting his Australian teammate settle for a minute, Warner hit another four and a six in the same over to up the ante in the last five overs.
