Pelicans coronavirus: 3 players test positive for Covid-19, confirms David Griffin
Three Pelicans players have tested positive for the coronavirus, as confirmed by David Griffin in what comes as a massive setback.
The test was conducted on players as they returned to the team facility as per the Protocols given by NBA. Griffin said that “The league had a system in place that was designed to catch these cases. The system worked, and we’re going to deal with it the best we can moving forward,”

The names of the players haven’t been disclosed yet, with the Pelicans ensuring that the privacy of players is maintained.

Griffin emphasised the fact that the coronavirus has impacted the league and every team has to deal with the same.
“But from a basketball standpoint, I think you’re going to see COVID have an enormous impact on teams and even some of the teams that went into the bubble as a playoff seed. You’ve seen that Brooklyn has been really damaged by the COVID situation. So again, this is something where we’re all at the mercy of the same enemy.” Griffin added.
The Pelicans have a great chance of making it to the playoffs, with Zion Williamson and Lonzo Ball leading the charge towards a playoff spot this NBA season.
NBA executives are gearing up for a ‘Zion vs LeBron’ 1st round in the NBA playoffs, but before that dream becomes a reality, the Pelicans have to ensure that their team is not marred by the coronavirus.
Nets players test positive for coronavirus
Two Brooklyn Nets players were also found positive for coronavirus on Monday; DeAndre Jordan and Spencer Dinwiddie. The Nets already have both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant ruled out for the season due to injury

NBA commissioner Adam Silver had said last Friday that the season could again be put on hold if there is a significant spread of coronavirus among NBA players in Orlando, Florida.
However, the NBA is doing everything it can to ensure that only players who are completely healthy enter into the NBA bubble in Orlando. Hopefully, it all works out well for the league.
