Lamar Miller Tells Reporters What Makes the Patriots Different
Patriots RB Lamar Miller told reporters on Tuesday about the moment he realized things work differently in New England.
Miller, 29, signed a one year contract with the Patriots 3 weeks ago. He didn’t step on the field immediately, though, as he was recovering from a torn ACL which he picked up in a 2019 preseason game.
He spent the the entire training camp on the PUP list, and was only activated on Monday. After his first practice with Belichick and the Patriots, Miller definitely noticed that things work differently in Foxborough.
What’s different about the Patriots?
Lamar Miller: I’d say the conditioning part. Since I’ve been in the league, I’ve never ran that much. It was just different for me. They make sure you’re in top, great shape. That’s something I haven’t experienced.

Miller’s Role on the Patriots
The University of Miami alum said that the winning culture was a part of his reason for signing with the Patriots. Of course, compared to Miller’s previous 2 teams (the Texans and Dolphins), the Patriots have been a little more successful recently.
In his best season in Houston, Miller averaged 4.6 yards per carry. If he continues to play the way he did before his injury, he will be a productive player for the Patriots.
However, he will first have to battle for touches in a well-rounded running back group in New England. He’ll be in competition with Sony Michel, James White, Rex Burkhead, and Damien Harris for the starting job.
On the bright side, there will be some familiar faces in the RB room for Miller. He has been training with James White since White entered the league and apparently tried to recruit Michel to the Dolphins.
