The NBA GM Survey revealed that a majority of the General Managers around the league believe LaMelo Ball will win Rookie of the Year.

The NBA preseason is a great way to get a feel for what a team and/or certain players may look like when the games start to matter. A multitude of teams have showcased what’s in store for their fans this upcoming regular season.

Each season produces a couple teams that are fun League-Pass teams. The 2020-21 Charlotte Hornets could definitely be one of these, if LaMelo Ball is given the key to the Hornets offense.

GMs believe LaMelo Ball will win ROTY

When the Hornets selected LaMelo Ball with the 3rd overall pick, they knew they drafting a passing extraordinaire. Through 4 preseason games, though the Hornets finished with a 1-3 record, Ball’s ability to read the floor was on full display.

His passing and vision in PnR sets combined with his ability to see the open court is some stuff to watch out for. The Miles Bridges-LaMelo Ball connection above the rim is something that will be a common occurrence as well.

The NBA GM Survey took place this past week. All 30 GMs were asked who they believe will win Rookie of the Year. LaMelo Ball was the number 1 pick to snag the award.

However, when asked which rookie will be the best in 5 years, the Warriors’ James Wiseman led all candidates in votes.

How Ball fared in preseason

Ball showed flashes of being a decent shooter from beyond the arc. At the moment, he is at best, a streaky shooter. You can expect him to either go 4-6 from 3 point land, or 1-8. He also has great touch around the rim, and can finish inside with either hand. His shot selection however, does need some work.

Overall, LaMelo has had a solid preseason, but still needs to work out his game on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor.
