‘Frank Vogel wants Anthony Davis to shoot 5 3-pointers a game’: How LeBron James and Lakers star will use the big man next season
The Lakers’ Head Coach Frank Vogel wants Anthony Davis to attempt at least 5 three-pointers a game next season.
The Lakers had a very successful 2019-20 on the court. They managed to follow it up with an even more successful offseason. The Lakers locked down Anthony Davis on a 5-year contract. They extended LeBron James’ contract. They added a lot of key pieces to their squad and arguably removed some deadweight.
With their title win, the Lakers’ forward Anthony Davis has managed to make his case for importance in NBA History even stronger. AD worked on his perimeter game and maintained his strong paint presence. He averaged 26 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game last season.
Lakers head coach wants Anthony Davis to shoot more 3s
Last season the best true shooter from the deep for the Lakers was Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Anthony Davis averaged around 3.5 attempts from the deep last season, and he knocked down around 33% of them.
For a 6’10” forward, these numbers are very impressive. Coach Vogel wants this number to go up. He wants Davis to attempt more shots from the deep.

If this works out for Davis, it would be a major W – not only for him but for the entire Lakers team. The Lakers are already the seeming favorites for their title defense, and if Davis starts knocking down more triples per night, it would just add to their offensive prowess.
The Lakers open their season on opening night when they face their city rivals Los Angeles Clippers. It would be a delight to watch, as Kawhi Leonard and co. would like to clear their tarnished reputation from the season before, whereas the Lakers would like to kick off the season on a strong note.
