“Luka Doncic is a huge whiner”: Zach Lowe explains how Mavs star is affecting his team’s defense by not running back on defense to complain to referees
Zach Lowe criticized Luka Doncic for his incessant whining and complaining about calls to referees in the latest edition of The Lowe Post.
It seems as though the better you are as a player, the more you get away with complaining. LeBron James was one of the worst offenders in the league for this kind of action at one point. During his time with the Cavs, James would pout so much no-calls that he’d cause 4-on-5 situations on defense.
He’s improved a bit in that he does run back on defense as a Lakers player. But James still complains and whines as much as he ever did, without much to show for his pains. Overall, James’ reputation is harmed more than what he gains from referees in terms of leniency.
Luka Doncic looks to be on the same track, career and pouting-wise, as LeBron.
Zach Lowe explains how Luka Doncic is messing up by complaining so much
Zach Lowe is so irked by Doncic’s actions with regards to the officiating that this is the second time in the 6-week old season he’s complaining about this. And we all know how Lowe is a measured, toned-down individual with his words:
“Luka has become one of the biggest whiners in the NBA. It’s constant, every time he drives he is whining. He spent so much energy whining to the referees and slumping his shoulders to teammates, it sucked the life of the team many times.”

It is with a heavy heart that we’re having to agree with this. When the leader of a team complains so much about calls, the morale of the team can understandably stoop. The Mavs have been without 3 starters for much of the season as is. They need their leader to set standards for conduct in addition to balling out.
