If you’re a WWE Superstar it is very important what Vince McMahon thinks of you. Recently crowned United States Champion Riddle spoke on WWE show The Bump, about how Vince told him that he had a goofy personality before adding that it wasn’t a good thing. However, he wasn’t too bothered about the observation.
WWE Chairman Vince McMahon criticized Champion on RAW for being goofy
“Even though I come off like a goof, even Vince [Vince McMahon] the first time was like, ‘You’re kind of a goof.’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’m know I’m kind of a goof.’ But he’s like, ‘That’s not a good thing.’ But for me it is. I can back it up. I’m tough and I can fight and do all these things. So being a goof for me is good.”
Riddle previously performed in the UFC and is had a five win streak before he was released in 2013. He explained that this was the reason why he could afford to be a goofball while still being taken seriously as an in-ring competitor.
“A lot of people are like, ‘Ah, he’s so goofy, he’s so funny.’ You guys realize I get to be goofy because I can break your neck and choke you out and knock you unconscious, and I’ve broken people in real life. Yeah, I’m 35 and I get to be a goofball because I’m a serious animal and savage when it comes to competing in the ring.”
Riddle recently won the U.S Championship from Bobby Lashley at Elimination Chamber. He was booked in a triple match with the third person originally scheduled to be Keith Lee. However, an injury kept the limitless one away from the match. He was replaced by John Morrision, who won the qualifying match on the kick off show. Morrision would ultimately take the pin for the U.S title to change hands from Lashley to Riddle.
